BCF Neighborhood Spotlight Award

Baltimore Community Foundation named Love & Cornbread one of its 2023 Neighborhood Spotlight Awardees. These awards celebrate organizations with a deep commitment to a particular neighborhood. We are so thrilled to be included in this stellar group of 10 winners, all of whom are doing amazing work around this city that we love.

So What Else? Partnership

L&C is thrilled to have joined with So What Else?, a Maryland based 501(c)3 organization to help transform their donated produce into delicious ready-to-eat meals for Baltimore city residents. So What Else? Distributes millions of pounds of produce across the region every year, primarily in the form of produce giveaways. Together So What Else? And L&C are piloting a new approach to addressing hunger: providing ready-to-eat meals rather than raw produce as a way to ensure more food actually gets into the bellies of people being served.

Our Third Anniversary
​
This week Love & Cornbread celebrated three years of showing up every single Saturday with great food, warm hugs, and lots of laughter. We served mac & cheese made from scratch with love just like we did the very first Saturday we showed up. The Dynasty Marching Unit of Penn North came out to drum with us and a rainbow unicorn showed up too. Together we have served 40,000 meals since 2020.

Taharka Ice Cream Giveaway
​
Thanks to an anonymous L&C donor, the famous pink Taharka Ice Cream truck visited Love & Cornbread and gave away 500 cups of ice cream to our guests. Not only is Taharka ice cream the best in Baltimore, but the crew running the truck are some of the best people around. It was a beautiful, joyful surprise for the neighborhood.
