This week we made the most of a generous post-Thanksgiving donation of 11 frozen turkeys. We roasted two of them, shredded the meat, and made a rich turkey, barley, and kale soup that was a huge hit with our guests. (Yes, that's our friend Nick from Umar Boxing making off with two cups of soup and a couple of sandwiches. He is always a fan of our cooking but he REALLY loved our soup this week. And don't worry, our friend in the middle is just pretending to be mad at us. She's one of our favorite regulars.) It was such a great feeling to be able to share something so homey and comforting on a cold day. And with the all the veggies and barley, it's healthy as well.
